Siril is one of the most powerful tools for processing, and it’s where most of my final images come to life. This workflow is designed for deep-sky objects and helps me achieve clean results with natural colors and maximum detail.
The process begins with data calibration using darks, flats, and bias frames to remove sensor noise, vignetting, and other unwanted artifacts. The images are then aligned and stacked, combining multiple exposures into a single image with a significantly improved signal-to-noise ratio.
Once the master image is created, I remove background gradients caused by light pollution and perform photometric color calibration. This ensures accurate and consistent colors across both stars and deep-sky objects.
Next comes histogram stretching, which reveals the faint details hidden within the linear data. I then make subtle adjustments to contrast, saturation, and noise reduction to enhance the image while maintaining a natural appearance.
The final step is a careful review of colors, background quality, and any remaining artifacts before exporting the image for archiving or sharing online. This workflow provides reliable and consistent results and serves as the foundation of most of my astrophotography processing.
